One suspect was taken into custody by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and was placed in back of a cruiser at the scene. A second suspect ran away after the crash and remains at large, deputies said.
The crash involved a 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by 23-year-old Jeffrey Spriggs of Springfield, according to a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office crash report.
A 16-year-old Springfield boy in the back seat was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center for evaluation, the report stated.
Spriggs was driving the same car when he was stopped two days before the crash by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Bethel Twp. in Clark County. He was scheduled to appear Jan. 6 in Clark County Municipal Court for driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over at 1:45 a.m. Dec. 29 on state Route 4, the ticket showed.
It is not clear whether he faces charges in connection to the crash, and he is not listed as an inmate at the Clark County Jail.
